Return to Play Q&A

How is MLL abiding by the 10 ft rule?

Phase 2 guidelines issued by the Governor and further clarified by Clark Mercer, Chief of Staff, provided the definition of intentional contact vs accidental contact.  This clarification allows baseball to be played and; therefore, MLL is able to move forward with season preparation and renting fields to organizations provided guidelines are followed.  As for spectators and participants, picnic tables have been moved to allow for social distancing and signage has been posted encouraging social distancing while on the complex. Note: Social distancing requirements do not apply to family members.  Families may gather to spectate, or otherwise socialize, on the complex.

Why are travel balls games being played, but Little League games are not being played?

MLL’s goal is to provide the best Little League experience.  MLL’s Return to Play schedule allows for necessary season coordination and safety preparation.

USSSA travel ball and other organizations have opened up play and MLL has chosen to rent the complex for those events.  The travel ball season carries over from the fall and those teams/organizations have been established, making tournament coordination easier than Little League operation. USSSA has guidelines for Return to Play, carries liability coverage, and requires execution of COVID-19 related waivers. USSSA assumes risk and responsibility of the complex during tournament play.

If already registered for the spring season, do I have to re-register my child?

No.  All participants registered for the 2020 spring season remain registered and allocated to a team/Division.

What does interleague mean for new registrants?

Little League International has waived restrictions associated with boundary play.  If a local league has cancelled their ball season due to COVID, players in that league's boundary are able to play at another league within the District for this season only.  Please email [email protected] with questions regarding District boundaries.

Will my child get a uniform this 2020 season?

MLL placed the uniform order for the 2020 season, but ceased printing during the pandemic.  MLL will move forward with the uniform order, but additional coordination may be necessary with team re-allocation.  MLL will work to re-allocate efficiently to minimize expense.  Each player will receive a hat (not embroidered) and a jersey.  If you placed an order through MLL for pant(s), sock(s) or belt(s), those items will also be distributed and payment is due upon receipt.

What is the status of orders/money collected through the Team Parent?

MLL will not process hat back embroidery or trophy orders for the 2020 season.  Monies collected by Team Parents, including uniform monies, will be refunded.  MLL will collect payment for uniform orders upon distribution of the uniform pieces.

Will my child be on the same team as they were put on before the COVID delay?

MLL has processed minimal refunds, but there are Divisions that have been impacted more than others.  MLL will open registration to counter refunds processed, evaluate team/Division numbers and hold evaluations and drafts, if appropriate. Any necessary evaluations and re-drafts will be held the weekend of July 17-19.

Has MLL finalized Return to Play safety procedures?

MLL has finalized and posted Return to Play Policies and Procedures.

If my child is unable to play this season, how do I request a refund?

Please email [email protected].  MLL will provide a refund form in response to your request.
